Set it up for Mom or Dad

You send them one message. They tap the link, and from then on they can forward anything that feels off and get a plain answer, without having to call you first.

Step 1 · Write the message

Here's what they'll get:

Step 2 · Send it

Step 3 · Try it together

The first time works best side by side, on a call or in person.

  1. Practice on a fake scam. Have them send this to Legit and read the answer together.
Wells Fargo Fraud Center: Did you attempt a purchase of $1,249.00 at Best Buy? Reply YES or NO. If NO, call 1-833-555-0199 immediately to secure your account.
  2. Show them the habit. Press and hold any message, tap Forward, pick Legit.
  3. Look at their feed, if they're curious. Record 30 seconds of scrolling YouTube or Facebook and send it. You'll both see what it keeps showing them.

How to bring it up

Make it about both of you. "Scams have gotten really good. I use this too. Want to try it?" Not "you keep getting fooled."

Start with scams. Everyone agrees scams are bad. Feeds and news can come later, once they trust it.

Let Legit show the pattern. Don't argue about what's in their feed. Ask what they think of what Legit found. More on how to talk about it.
